HLS output

HLS output: your 24/7 channel as an M3U8 link

Fluger turns your channel's schedule into one continuous .m3u8 stream. Give it to partners, IPTV apps or any HLS player, and it plays your lineup like a live channel.

Create your channel See how it works

Works when every video in the channel is HLS (.m3u8). Uploaded MP4s can be converted to HLS.

What is an HLS output link?

HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is the format most players and TV platforms use for live video. An HLS output link is one URL that streams your channel's schedule as a single live feed, so another app needs neither your schedule nor your files to show the channel.

How the HLS output works

One link per time zone

Create a link for each time zone you need, so the schedule plays at local time in each region.

Adaptive bitrate

The stream offers several quality levels, so each player picks the best one for its connection.

Follows your schedule

Whatever you schedule, by hand or with Auto Mode, is what the stream plays.

MP4 to HLS conversion

Turn on HLS conversion when you upload, or convert library videos later, at 360p, 480p and 720p.

Plays in any HLS player

Use it in VLC, IPTV apps, set-top boxes or partner platforms that accept HLS sources.

Test it first

Paste the link into our free HLS player to check that it plays before you send it to a partner.

How it works

1

Use HLS videos

Upload with HLS conversion on, or add M3U8 links.

2

Build the schedule

Arrange the lineup or turn on Auto Mode.

3

Create the link

Open HLS links on the channel's videos page, pick a title and time zone, and copy the .m3u8 URL.

HLS output questions

An M3U8 file is the playlist of an HLS stream. Players load it to find the video segments, so one M3U8 link is enough to play a whole live channel.

Make sure the channel's videos are HLS, then open HLS links on the channel's videos page, choose a title and time zone, and copy the .m3u8 URL.

The output is stitched together from the HLS segments of your videos. MP4 videos can be converted to HLS in your library; YouTube and Vimeo links can't be included.

Yes. Create one link per time zone; each plays the schedule at that zone's local time.

No. Ads from your VAST tag play in Fluger's players, such as the channel page and the embed. The HLS output carries your programs only.

In any player that supports HLS: VLC, IPTV apps, smart TV players or partners that take HLS sources. Test it in our HLS player first.
