Channels — What Is a TV Channel on Fluger?
A channel on Fluger is a continuous, linear stream of video — like a real TV station. Viewers tune in and watch what's playing, instead of browsing a library and picking a video themselves. You can run a channel 24/7 or only during scheduled windows.
What's in a channel
A Fluger channel is the container for everything you broadcast under your brand. Once you create one, you can:
- Schedule pre-recorded content — videos, playlists, and reruns that play automatically at the times you set
- Go live from any RTMP encoder (OBS, Streamlabs, Larix, phone-as-camera) on the Premium plan — see Live Streaming with RTMP
- Build an on-demand library alongside the linear stream — viewers can also pick individual videos to watch
- Publish branded apps on Roku, iOS, and Apple TV that point at the channel — see TV Apps
- Monetize with ads, subscriptions, or pay-per-view — see Monetization
- Embed the channel into your own website — see Embed channel to website
Linear vs on-demand — pick the right format
Fluger supports two channel formats:
- Linear (TV-style) — content plays continuously on a fixed schedule. Best when you want viewers to lean back and watch what's on, like a real TV channel. Music videos, podcasts on video, lectures, church services, news, and FAST-style channels all fit here.
- On-demand (VOD) — viewers pick individual videos from a library. Best when each piece of content stands alone and viewers come looking for something specific.
Most Fluger customers run both — a linear channel as the always-on brand presence, and an on-demand library underneath for viewers who want to search and pick.

When to create a channel
Create a channel if you want:
- An always-on branded media presence — your own TV station under your name
- To go live for events, services, classes, or shows and have the recording archived automatically
- To run scheduled programming — reruns, blocks, playlists — without manual intervention
- Branded apps on Roku, iOS, and Apple TV that viewers tap to watch
- To monetize your video directly without depending on YouTube's algorithm or ad terms
How channels work across devices
One channel reaches every screen:
- Web — the channel's public play page at
fluger.tv/<your-channel-url>(or embedded on your own site) - Roku — your branded Roku app, published under your name
- iOS / iPad — your branded iOS app, also under your name
- Apple TV / Fire TV — same branded experience, larger screen
Viewers see the same content everywhere in real time. When you go live, every device shows the live stream at once.
Pricing
Channels are available on every plan. Live streaming via RTMP is Premium-only. See fluger.tv/pricing for the full plan comparison.
