This guide explains how to enable Pay-Per-View (PPV) monetization for videos inside a VOD channel on Fluger.

PPV allows you to charge viewers a one-time fee to rent or buy individual videos.

Before enabling PPV, make sure:

  • You have created a VOD channel

  • Your videos are custom uploaded MP4 or M3U8

  • You understand that YouTube and Vimeo videos cannot be monetized using PPV

⚠️ PPV works only with custom-hosted videos. External platforms like YouTube or Vimeo do not allow transactional monetization inside Fluger.


Step 1: Create a VOD Channel

Create a VOD channel from your dashboard.
VOD channels are designed for on-demand viewing, where users select videos individually rather than following a schedule. When creating channel simply select type VOD instead of Linear

Step 2: Create a Video Container

Inside your VOD channel:

  1. Create a Video Container

  2. Think of this container as a collection or folder for videos

  3. The container is displayed to viewers as a scrollable video list

This is where PPV monetization is applied.

Step 3: Open Monetization Settings

  1. Locate the gear (⚙️) icon on the video that you want to setup PPV for

  2. Click the gear icon

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Pay Per View

This enables PPV settings for all eligible videos inside the container.

Step 4: Choose Which Videos Can Be Monetized

Only the following video types are supported for PPV:

  • ✅ Custom MP4 uploads

  • ✅ Custom M3U8 (HLS) streams

  • ❌ YouTube videos

  • ❌ Vimeo videos

If your container includes unsupported video types, those videos will remain free to watch.


Step 5: Set Pricing Options

You can configure one or both of the following:

Rental Price

  • Viewer pays to temporarily access the video

  • You choose how many days the video remains available after purchase

Buy Price

  • Viewer gets permanent access

  • No expiration

Rental Duration

  • Set the number of days the rented video can be watched

  • Starts counting from the moment of purchase


Step 6: Understand Credits & Payouts

All PPV prices are set using Fluger Credits.

How credits work

  • Viewers pay in credits

  • Credits accumulate in your balance

  • Credits can later be withdrawn to your bank account or PayPal

  • Credits can also be reused inside Fluger (subscriptions, services, etc.)

This system simplifies payments and withdrawals across the platform.


Step 7: Viewer Experience

Once PPV is enabled:

  • Videos appear locked to viewers

  • Clicking a video prompts the viewer to:

    • Rent or

    • Buy

  • Playback starts only after payment is completed

No payment = no access.
